Architreasures activates communities through the power of art and design. We transform public spaces in underserved neighborhoods to improve quality of life for local residents. We engage children, teens, adults, and seniors from low-income communities in art-making and design projects that highlight their voice and interests, while creating a meaningful forum for interaction, communication and collective experience for participants. Our projects result in buildings, empty lots, courtyards and lobbies beautified with original mural art, mosaics, 3D wall panels, photography and sculptures, as well as decorative, functional artwork, and creative landscape designs.
Since our founding, Architreasures has completed more than 150 projects in 35 Chicago neighborhoods. Through our neighborhood art and design programs, we have collaborated with 200+ artists, architects, and design professionals; hired and mentored 800+ low-income youth interns; and deployed over 2,000 volunteers.
